Christmas 2007--We had a nice time, and Elan certainly got into it more than last year. This year whenever he heard the word "Navidad", he thought we wanted him to say "arbol" (tree) as in arbol de Navidad (Christmas tree). He seemed to smile at fake Santas, but did not want to sit on the lap of the real one. He enjoyed passing out presents to others, and he did pretty well at opening gifts. However, his attention span was short so there was no need for a lot of gifts. You will see in the pictures below some of his favorites--a broom from Noni and Lito, a tricycle from Dee and Pop, and some trucks from Noni and Lito. Truthfully trucks, cars, and anything that says "vroom" were among the favorites. The broom might win the prize, though.
We went to Maryland on Christmas Day so he could meet his great grandparents. There are family pictures that include them. His Noni taught him a new trick to lift his arms to show how big he is, and there is a picture that shows that. There is a picture that shows him with his Aunt Erika and his soon-to-be uncle Jeff. (Erika and Jeff got engaged over the holidays). Finally, there is a picture that shows three gifts labeled gold, frankincense, and myrhh as we have begun a tradition at our house. He will get three gifts each year.

Rocking horse comes alive again...the rocking horse that I used as a child was revived from my parents' attic. Elan has figured out how to make it rock on his own, and he enjoys it. At a doctor's visit last week, he was weighed and measured. He weighed 22 lbs 6 oz which is 14th percentile, and he was 32 inches long which is 60th percentile. Long and skinny like his dad.
After just turning 16 months old, we are working on cutting out the morning nap. He wasn't taking consistent morning and afternoon naps, so we are trying to be consistent at taking one per day. So far this is working OK.
